In a significant leadership change, President Bola Tinubu appointed Jalal Ahmad Arabi as the new chairman of NAHCON, replacing the former chairman, Zilkrullah Kunle Hassan, who was instructed to take three months’ pre-terminal leave.

Jalal Ahmad Arabi was warmly received by the outgoing chairman, represented by Nura Hassan Yakasai, the Commissioner for Policy, Personnel, Management, and Finance (PPMF).

Arabi wasted no time in addressing the commission’s staff upon assuming office. He called for unity and stronger collaboration among the staff members.

Arabi emphasized the importance of working together to achieve the objectives of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

The new NAHCON chairman assured both the staff and the people of Nigeria that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda was sincere. Arabi sought the support and cooperation of the staff to guide Nigeria in the right direction.

He expressed the belief that this change in leadership would lead to improved communication with pilgrims and a greater sense of belonging.

Acknowledging the Challenges Ahead

During this transition, Nura Hassan Yakasai congratulated Arabi on his new role but reminded him of the significant challenges that lie ahead.

Yakasai emphasized that this transition occurs during a critical time when preparations for Hajj are already underway.

He noted the shorter time frame given by Saudi authorities, presenting unique challenges for the commission. Arabi faces a demanding and time-sensitive task as he steps into his new role as chairman of NAHCON.
