Karoline Leavitt Accuses Democrats of Prioritizing Foreign Aid Over Domestic Disaster Relief in White House Briefing

In a heated exchange in the White House press briefing room, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt didn’t hold back, accusing Democrats of misusing taxpayer funds.

Her remarks came as President Donald Trump prepared to sign an executive order aimed at banning trans athletes from competing in women’s sports.

Leavitt Calls Out Misallocation of Funds

Leavitt’s fiery speech focused on what she described as wasteful government spending, especially when compared to the ongoing disaster relief needs in states like North Carolina and California.

“Democrats are pretending to be outraged over cuts, yet they’re okay with sending taxpayer dollars to sex change operations in Guatemala and funding tourism in Egypt,” she said, referencing a series of foreign aid programs she believes should be questioned.

“You have federal funds being used for a new Sesame Street show in Iraq and millions going toward fighting disinformation in Kazakhstan,” Leavitt continued, as she read from a paper she had brought with her to the podium.

Leavitt further emphasized that taxpayers want their money spent on domestic issues, not on what she deemed frivolous expenditures abroad.

She also pointed out that there are still residents in North Carolina and California dealing with the aftermath of disasters without sufficient federal assistance. “In the last four years, the federal government did nothing to help them,” she claimed.

Trump’s Upcoming Executive Order and More Tensions with Democrats

Leavitt’s remarks coincided with President Trump’s upcoming signing of an executive order banning trans women from competing in women’s sports.

She positioned this as a necessary action to restore “common sense” to the country.

“This is about defending the safety of athletes, protecting competitive integrity, and upholding Title IX,” she stated.

Leavitt took aim at the previous administration, accusing it of enabling what she called “gender ideology insanity,” a criticism of policies that allowed trans women to participate in women’s sports.

Republican Push for Changes at USAID and Media Spending Scrutiny

The briefing also included sharp criticisms of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), particularly its funding of media outlets like Politico.

Leavitt, along with tech mogul Elon Musk, criticized the agency for its spending practices, including the $8 million spent on Politico subscriptions.

“These kinds of expenditures are no longer acceptable,” Leavitt declared, confirming that those subscriptions would be canceled under Trump’s administration.

Leavitt Tackles the Growing Debate Over Disaster Aid and California Politics

Later in the day, President Trump is set to meet with California Governor Gavin Newsom at the White House.

While some in the Democratic Party have pushed back against Trump’s conditions for disaster relief, such as linking aid to voter ID laws in California, Leavitt’s speech reflects the administration’s ongoing push to balance domestic relief with broader political goals.

It remains to be seen how these proposals will be received both in Washington and on the ground in disaster-stricken areas.

The administration’s stance on issues like disaster aid and gender inclusion in sports is part of a broader political narrative that Leavitt and others in the White House continue to champion as Trump’s new term takes shape.
