Kaizer Chiefs Confirm Signings of Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo While Revealing Missed Opportunity to Secure Peter Shalulile

Kaizer Chiefs are making significant moves to strengthen their forward line for 2025 and beyond, securing deals for two new players.

However, there’s another name that could’ve added even more firepower to their squad if circumstances had been different.

Chiefs Seal Deals for Morris and Lilepo

The Chiefs are reportedly finalizing deals to bring in striker Tashreeq Morris and winger Glody Lilepo.

These signings are part of their ongoing effort to improve their attacking options for the upcoming season.

Throughout the transfer window, several names have been linked to the club, including Fiston Mayele, Clement Mzize, Lungelo Nguse, and Ruben del Campo.

It was also speculated that Chiefs were looking to free up a foreign spot by moving DRC striker Christian Saile, but in the end, they opted to include him in a swap deal with SuperSport United, which brought in Morris.

More recently, news surfaced that the club was eyeing Lilepo, another DRC international, and negotiations have reportedly reached an agreement with French club Valenciennes.

It’s believed that Lilepo himself has already made a pre-agreement with Amakhosi, signaling that the search for attacking reinforcements might finally be over.

Chiefs’ Pursuit of Shalulile Halted by Price Tag

Despite these promising signings, Kaizer Chiefs were also interested in bringing in one more major player—Mamelodi Sundowns’ star striker Peter Shalulile.

However, Chiefs quickly realized that securing Shalulile would be out of their financial reach, due to his hefty price tag.

According to sources, even if Shalulile were available as a free agent, he would still be too expensive for the Chiefs.

The signing bonus and high salary demands would’ve pushed the costs far beyond their budget.

In fact, it’s reported that Sundowns value Shalulile at R75 million, a figure that no South African team could likely afford at this time.
