A touching moment between the Princess of Wales and her younger brother, James Middleton, has captured widespread attention after a video surfaced showing him helping his sister down from the base of Mount Snowdon following her completion of the National Three Peaks Challenge.
The footage, recorded by entrepreneur and fellow hiker Phillip Tebajjwa, shows a smiling Catherine dressed in red shorts, hiking boots and a grey cap as she walks hand-in-hand with James after finishing the demanding endurance challenge.
Her sapphire engagement ring glints in the sunlight as the siblings make their way down the mountain together.
Kate Completes Historic Endurance Test
The Princess of Wales recently completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.
The feat involved summiting Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), covering approximately 23 miles on foot, more than 10,000 feet of elevation gain and over 460 miles of travel between locations.
Kate undertook the challenge alone, supported along the route by Mountain Rescue teams.
Family members, including her parents Carole and Michael Middleton, welcomed her at the foot of Snowdon after she crossed the final milestone.
The achievement is also believed to make her the first member of the Royal Family to successfully complete the iconic challenge.
Video Sparks Praise for the Middleton Siblings
The brief clip quickly resonated with royal followers online, with many praising the close relationship between Catherine and James.
Observers described the gesture as another example of the unwavering support the siblings have shown one another over the years.
Many commented that James has consistently stood beside his sister during important moments, while others described the scene as a beautiful display of family loyalty.
A Bond Forged Through Difficult Times
The emotional response to the video was strengthened by memories of the family’s past experiences together.
James has previously spoken openly about his battle with severe depression and revealed that his therapist encouraged him to involve family members in his treatment.
He chose to bring only his sisters, Catherine and Pippa Middleton, to therapy sessions, later describing their involvement as an incredibly meaningful part of his recovery.
Royal supporters noted the significance of seeing James now offering his own support to Catherine after she faced her own health battle.
Hiker Recalls Unexpected Royal Encounter
Phillip Tebajjwa, who filmed the now-viral video, admitted he had no idea he had been speaking to the future Queen while congratulating hikers descending the mountain.
Sharing the footage on Instagram, he said he initially believed it was just another climber celebrating the achievement before realising he had encountered a member of the Royal Family.
He also posted a photograph alongside the Princess, saying the experience felt almost unreal.
James Continues Publicly Supporting His Sister
James has repeatedly shown his encouragement throughout Catherine’s cancer journey.
After the Princess shared a video reflecting on her Three Peaks Challenge and her recovery, James commented that he was “so proud.”
On another celebratory photograph, he left only a mountain and heart emoji, a subtle but heartfelt gesture that many interpreted as a symbol of his continued support.
His public backing echoes the message he shared when Catherine announced her cancer diagnosis in 2024.
At the time, he posted a childhood photograph of the pair hiking together and wrote that they had climbed many mountains as siblings and would face this challenge together as a family.
Challenge Inspired by Life Beyond Cancer
Following her successful completion of the challenge, the Princess explained that the experience was about much more than physical endurance.
In a message shared on social media, Catherine said she wanted to raise awareness about life during and after cancer while giving back to others facing similar journeys.
She also highlighted the importance of the Royal Marsden Hospital, describing it as a place with deep personal significance whose care and expertise continue to change countless lives.
The challenge, she said, was an opportunity to encourage hope, resilience and support for those navigating cancer and recovery.
