The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it has carried out a series of military operations targeting members of Hamas and Hezbollah, announcing the deaths of several operatives in Gaza and southern Lebanon over the past day.
According to the Israeli military, the operations were part of ongoing efforts to disrupt militant activity and reduce threats facing Israeli troops operating in both conflict zones.
Four Hamas Operatives Killed During Gaza Operation
In its latest operational update, the IDF said four members of Hamas’ military wing were killed while allegedly preparing attacks against Israeli forces deployed in the Gaza Strip.
The military identified the individuals as Wael Mahmoud Ali Labad, Muaz Mohammad Hassan Ahmad, Sameh Abu Kamil, and Akram Ashraf Hamad Labad.
Israeli officials stated that the four operatives had been advancing plans to carry out attacks against IDF personnel operating in Gaza.
Military Says Hamas Launch Infrastructure Was Destroyed
Alongside the targeted operation, the IDF reported striking and dismantling Hamas launch infrastructure used to fire projectiles.
According to the military, the operation included the destruction of launch shafts and launchers that it said were being used by Hamas as part of its military activities.
No additional details were released regarding the exact locations of the strikes or the extent of the damage.
Hezbollah Operative Reportedly Killed Near Security Zone
In a separate announcement, the Israeli military said it eliminated a Hezbollah operative in the El Manzala area of southern Lebanon, close to the security zone where Israeli troops are currently deployed.
The IDF stated that the individual posed an immediate threat to its soldiers operating in the area.
Israeli officials reiterated that military operations in southern Lebanon would continue whenever they assess threats to Israeli forces or civilians.
Senior Hamas Commander Identified Among Those Killed
Earlier, the IDF also announced the death of Mohammad Fathi Abd al-Hay Abu Fakher, whom it identified as the commander of the Yibna Battalion within Hamas’ Rafah Brigade.
The military described Abu Fakher as a long-serving Hamas commander who allegedly played a significant role in the group’s logistics and smuggling network while serving as a senior official within the military wing’s supply department.
IDF Alleges Commander Was Rebuilding Battalion
According to the Israeli military, Abu Fakher had recently been overseeing recruitment efforts, directing the training of new fighters, and attempting to restore the operational capabilities of the Yibna Battalion.
The IDF alleged that those efforts were intended to enable future attacks against Israeli troops operating in Gaza.
The claims regarding the activities and roles of those killed have not been independently verified, and Hamas and Hezbollah had not immediately commented publicly on the Israeli statements at the time of the announcements.
Operations Continue Across Multiple Fronts
The latest announcements underscore Israel’s continued military campaign against Hamas in Gaza and its operations targeting Hezbollah-linked activity along the Lebanese border.
Israeli officials maintain that such operations are intended to prevent attacks on Israeli forces and civilians as fighting continues across both fronts.
