The Israeli military has announced the killing of five alleged members of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in separate operations across the Gaza Strip, accusing them of preparing attacks and attempting to rebuild their organizations’ military capabilities despite an existing ceasefire agreement.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) identified the individuals as commanders and operatives associated with the armed wings of both Palestinian groups, including a Hamas battalion commander accused of involvement in holding Israeli hostages.

According to the military, the operations were conducted to eliminate threats against Israeli soldiers and civilians following what it described as repeated violations of the ceasefire.

Islamic Jihad Rocket Commander Among Three Reported Killed

Three of the individuals identified in the latest Israeli military announcement were linked to Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas.

Hassam Walid Hassan Abu Al-Ata was described as a commander in the rocket unit of Islamic Jihad’s military wing, while Magdi Moein Yousef Al-Ayoubi was identified as another operative belonging to the same organization.

The third individual, Muhammad Aja, was identified as a company commander in Hamas’ military wing.

Israeli military officials alleged that the three had recently participated in advancing attacks against IDF personnel while working to restore the operational capabilities of their respective organizations.

The military characterized these activities as systematic breaches of the ceasefire agreement and said the individuals were targeted because of the threats they allegedly posed.

The statement did not specify the exact locations of the three deaths or provide further operational details.

Hamas Shati Battalion Commander Accused of Holding Israeli Hostages

In a separate announcement, the Israeli military reported the killing of Muhammad Muhsen Nimr Yazji, whom it identified as a commander in the Shati Battalion of Hamas’ military wing.

Yazji was accused of involvement in holding Israeli hostages in the Gaza City area.

The military specifically linked him to the captivity of Emily Damari, Romi Gonen and Matan Angrest, three Israelis who were taken hostage during the conflict.

His alleged involvement in hostage detention was highlighted as part of the military’s explanation for targeting him.

The IDF did not provide additional evidence in its public statement establishing the precise nature of his alleged role in holding the captives.

Another Hamas Operative Killed in Gaza’s Sabra Area

The Israeli military also announced the killing of Muhammad Fawzi Muhammad Awad Gamal in the Sabra area of Gaza.

Gamal was identified as an operative in the Daraj Tuffah Battalion, which forms part of Hamas’ military wing.

According to the IDF, he and Yazji had recently been involved in activities aimed at preparing attacks against Israeli civilians and military personnel.

Both were also accused of participating in efforts to rebuild Hamas’ military capabilities during the ceasefire period.

The military maintained that their activities represented continuing violations of the agreement and justified operations intended to prevent further attacks.

Israeli Military Accuses Armed Groups of Rebuilding Combat Capabilities

A central allegation in both military announcements was that Hamas and Islamic Jihad personnel were attempting to restore their organizations’ operational strength while the ceasefire remained in place.

The IDF claimed that the individuals were involved in preparations for renewed attacks rather than complying with the restrictions associated with the agreement.

Israeli officials presented the operations as preventive actions intended to remove threats before additional attacks could be carried out.

The announcements, however, did not include detailed evidence of specific planned attacks, and the allegations against the five individuals have not been independently verified.

Ceasefire Faces Continued Pressure Amid Targeted Military Operations

The reported killings highlight continuing tensions surrounding the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire, particularly over accusations of military activity by armed groups during the truce.

Israel has maintained that operations against individuals it considers active security threats are necessary to protect its forces and civilian population.

At the same time, continued military strikes during a ceasefire raise questions about the agreement’s durability and the circumstances under which force may be used.

The latest statements did not provide information about possible civilian casualties or the weapons used in the operations.

There was also no immediate confirmation in the material released by the IDF of responses from Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad concerning the reported deaths.

Five Deaths Reported Across Two Israeli Military Announcements

The two announcements identified five individuals in total, comprising three alleged Hamas members and two alleged Islamic Jihad operatives.

Among them were a rocket unit commander, a Hamas company commander and a battalion commander accused of involvement in holding Israeli hostages.

The Israeli military said all five had engaged in activities that threatened Israeli security and undermined the ceasefire agreement.

While the IDF described the operations as successful, the circumstances of the killings and the allegations concerning the individuals’ recent activities remain based on Israeli military accounts.

The developments underscore the continuing fragility of the ceasefire in Gaza as military operations and competing accusations of violations threaten efforts to maintain a sustained reduction in hostilities.
