The Israeli military says it has killed two Hamas operatives in separate Gaza strikes, including a commander in the group’s elite Nukhba force, while also announcing an attack on a Hezbollah weapons facility in southern Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces identified the two Palestinians as Ibrahim Fawzi Ismail Mohsen and Mohammed Kamel Suleiman Mohsen, alleging that both had recently been involved in efforts to prepare attacks and rebuild Hamas’s military capabilities.
The announcements came as Israel separately detailed a longer campaign against Hamas’s financial infrastructure, saying 16 people involved in moving money for the group have been killed during the war.
Israel Says Nukhba Platoon Commander Killed in Nuseirat
The IDF said Ibrahim Fawzi Ismail Mohsen was killed in an Israeli strike in the Nuseirat area of the central Gaza Strip on Friday.
Israel identified Mohsen as a platoon commander in Hamas’s Nukhba force, an elite unit within the group’s military wing.
A separate Israeli strike in Khan Younis in southern Gaza killed Mohammed Kamel Suleiman Mohsen, whom the military also identified as a Hamas military operative.
Israeli media reported the two strikes on Saturday following the military’s announcement.
IDF Accuses Operatives of Preparing New Attacks
According to the Israeli military, the two men had recently been involved in advancing attacks targeting Israeli civilians and IDF personnel.
The IDF further alleged that they were working to restore Hamas’s military capabilities.
Israel characterised those activities as systematic violations of the ceasefire and said the strikes were carried out to eliminate what it considered an ongoing threat.
The claims concerning the men’s recent activities are based on the IDF’s account and have not been independently verified.
Hezbollah Weapons Facility Targeted in Southern Lebanon
Israel also carried out a separate operation against Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon on Saturday.
The IDF said its aircraft struck a weapons storage facility belonging to Hezbollah in the Sejoud area.
According to the Israeli military, weapons kept at the site had been used to target Israeli soldiers operating inside what Israel describes as the Security Zone.
The IDF said the facility was attacked because it continued to pose a threat to its forces. Israeli reports confirmed the military’s announcement of the Sejoud strike on September 26.
Sejoud Area Has Previously Been Linked to Hezbollah Military Infrastructure
The Sejoud area has appeared previously in reporting concerning Israeli operations against Hezbollah infrastructure.
A United Nations Security Council document covering Israeli strikes in Lebanon recorded Israeli claims concerning Hezbollah military structures in Sejoud in June 2025, including facilities associated with a known surface-to-surface rocket site.
Saturday’s announcement represents another Israeli strike in the area as the IDF continues operations against what it identifies as Hezbollah’s remaining military infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
Israel Reveals Campaign Against Hamas Financial Network
Alongside the latest strikes, the IDF and Israel Security Agency, also known as Shin Bet, have released details about an extensive campaign targeting people accused of financing Hamas.
Israeli authorities said 16 key financial operatives have been killed during the war.
According to the IDF and Shin Bet, those individuals were involved in currency exchanges and transferring money used to support Hamas’s military operations.
Israel says the network relied on dozens of money changers operating in Gaza and Türkiye and was responsible for transferring more than $1 billion for Hamas’s military activities.
Israel Says Money Helped Hamas Rebuild Military Capabilities
The IDF alleges that the funds moved through the network were used for several purposes, including paying Hamas operatives, obtaining weapons, restoring damaged military infrastructure and preparing attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians.
Israeli authorities identified Ibrahim Abu Shamala and Mohammed Abu Alwan among the most important figures in the alleged financial network.
Abu Shamala was described by Israel as a financial officer for Hamas’s military wing, while Abu Alwan was accused of overseeing money for the organisation’s political wing.
The Israeli military said Abu Alwan had directed transfers worth more than one billion shekels during the war.
Hamas Has Not Confirmed Israeli Claims About Financial Network
The claims about the scale and structure of the financing operation come primarily from Israeli military and security authorities.
Hamas had not immediately responded to the latest Israeli announcement about the 16 alleged financial operatives, according to reporting following the IDF statement.
The identities, roles and total amounts attributed to the network have not been independently verified.
Israel Expands Pressure Beyond Battlefield Commanders
The latest announcements illustrate the increasingly broad range of infrastructure Israel says it is targeting across Gaza and Lebanon.
In Gaza, that strategy includes commanders, individual operatives and people Israel accuses of helping Hamas move and manage money.
In Lebanon, Israeli forces continue targeting sites they identify as Hezbollah weapons facilities and other military infrastructure.
Israel maintains that the operations are intended to prevent Hamas and Hezbollah from rebuilding capabilities that could be used against Israeli civilians and military personnel.
The strikes on Ibrahim Fawzi Ismail Mohsen and Mohammed Kamel Suleiman Mohsen, the attack on the Sejoud weapons facility and the campaign against Hamas’s financial network are therefore being presented by the IDF as different elements of the same broader objective: disrupting the personnel, weapons and financing that Israel says could enable future attacks.
