The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has dismissed two claims circulated by Iranian officials and state media, saying they are false and intended to spread misinformation amid ongoing regional tensions.
In separate statements issued on July 12, the U.S. military refuted reports alleging American troop casualties in Kuwait and challenged assertions that Iran has authority over all vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. Denies Reports of Service Member Deaths
CENTCOM rejected claims from Iranian propaganda outlets that three American service members had been killed in Kuwait during Iranian strikes.
According to the command, there have been no reported deaths or injuries involving U.S. military personnel anywhere in the region.
Officials added that all American service members are fully accounted for, directly contradicting the reports circulated by Iranian sources.
The statement sought to reassure the public and military families while countering what the command described as false information.
Military Challenges Iranian Maritime Claims
In a separate clarification, CENTCOM also disputed remarks made by a commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, who reportedly said on Iranian state-owned media that no foreign vessel could pass through the Strait of Hormuz without being identified, tracked, and monitored by Iranian forces.
The U.S. military responded by stating that the claim is inaccurate, rejecting the suggestion that Iran exercises exclusive control over the strategic waterway.
Strait of Hormuz Remains a Key International Shipping Route
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime corridors, serving as a critical route for global energy exports and international commercial shipping.
CENTCOM’s statement underscores the U.S. position that the waterway is not under Iran’s sole authority and that international vessels retain the right to navigate through the strait in accordance with international law.
Information Battle Continues Alongside Regional Tensions
The latest fact-checks from CENTCOM come as the United States and Iran remain locked in heightened military and political tensions.
Alongside ongoing military operations in the region, both sides have increasingly sought to shape public narratives through official statements and media messaging, with CENTCOM continuing to publicly challenge what it says are false or misleading claims about the conflict and regional security.
