Callum Turner enjoyed a relaxed outing with his mother, Rosemary, on Thursday as speculation continued over whether he would become the next James Bond, following public support from former 007 star Pierce Brosnan.
The 36-year-old actor kept his appearance casual, wearing a black leather jacket, white shirt and jeans while taking his dog, Golo, for some exercise.
The Labrador-Rottweiler cross accompanied him as he spent time with his mother.
Rosemary, who joined her son for the outing, carried a coffee and wore a checked shirt, green jacket and black skirt.
Pierce Brosnan Expresses Support for Callum Turner
Turner’s appearance came shortly after Pierce Brosnan shared his thoughts on the search for Daniel Craig’s successor, expressing admiration for the actors being considered for the iconic role.
The 73-year-old former James Bond star included Turner among the performers he would be interested in seeing take on the character.
Speaking about the casting process, Brosnan told Vanity Fair: “Oh, I’m just an audience member now.
I’m just the man in the street who is eager to see who is going to play this epic role of cinematic history.
All the men who are on the list now are actors I admire.”
He also revealed that he had previously worked with Turner, adding that the shortlisted actors all possessed qualities required for the role.
“They all have a voice and a physique, and a presence on film.
They all have longevity as actors, all of these young men,” he said.
Asked what advice he would offer the next actor to portray the British secret agent, Brosnan replied: “Whoever plays the role, I wish him the very best of life and strength and courage.”
He added that he was looking forward to the official announcement and the celebrations surrounding the next James Bond.
Three Actors Compete to Replace Daniel Craig
Turner is reportedly among three actors being considered to replace Daniel Craig, whose departure left the future of the long-running film franchise open.
Final screen tests reportedly took place at Bray Studios in Berkshire last month, with Turner, fellow British actor Jack Lowden and an unnamed third performer participating in the auditions.
Lowden, 36, has reportedly emerged as the leading contender in the race, although the casting decision has yet to be announced.
The identity of the mystery actor has also generated speculation among Bond fans, with several social media users suggesting that actor Joe Alwyn could be the unnamed candidate.
Turner’s Mother Has Been a Major Influence on His Career
Rosemary has long been credited with encouraging her son’s ambitions and supporting his decision to pursue acting.
Turner grew up in London with his single mother, whom he has previously described as brilliant and instrumental in shaping his outlook on life.
Rosemary initially dreamed of becoming an actress but went on to work as a nightclub promoter, including at venues such as Ministry of Sound.
Her profession exposed Turner to a wide range of personalities from London’s 1980s club scene.
In a 2020 interview with The Independent, Turner discussed the different people who played fatherly roles in his upbringing, explaining that his father, who lived in Australia, had limited contact with him.
Speaking to The Times in 2016, the actor recalled how his mother encouraged him to pursue his ambitions, even though she sometimes advised him to consider a more conventional career.
“She instilled this belief in me that if I wanted to do something, anything, I should go for it,” he said.
He also recalled her suggestion that he learn a trade and become a plumber, although he had other ambitions, including becoming a footballer.
Turner explained that he was never particularly interested in choosing the safest career option and preferred taking risks.
Actor Credits His Mother for His Supportive Upbringing
The actor has continued to speak positively about his working-class upbringing and the environment his mother created for him.
He previously explained that Rosemary surrounded him with a supportive community rather than raising him in isolation.
“My mum allowed a community of people around me and wasn’t protective of her love for me.
It was almost like a tribe,” he said.
His mother has also been the subject of Turner’s jokes about the persistent speculation surrounding his potential appointment as James Bond.
During an interview with PEOPLE, the actor was asked about reports linking him to the role and suggested that his mother might be responsible for keeping the rumours alive.
“I think that’s my mum. She just puts that out there.
So when my odds get higher, it’s all her putting the money on,” he joked.
Dua Lipa Also Supports Turner’s Bond Prospects
Turner is also believed to have the support of his wife, pop star Dua Lipa, as he competes for one of the most recognisable roles in cinema.
The actor’s family has remained an important part of his life throughout his career, with his mother continuing to support his professional ambitions.
With the final auditions reportedly completed, attention remains on the three shortlisted performers as fans await confirmation of who will succeed Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.
