Maritzburg United Coach Fadlu Davids Denied Move to Raja Club Athletic
Zinnbauer’s Attempt to Bring in Davids as Assistant Fails
Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids will not be joining Josef Zinnbauer at Moroccan club Raja Club Athletic.
Initially, Zinnbauer wanted to bring Davids in as one of his assistants, but the Raja hierarchy rejected the idea.
The club insisted on having an assistant who could speak French or Arabic to ensure effective communication.
Zinnbauer eventually accepted the decision, and it is now rumored that his former colleague Patrick Rahmen is the favorite to join Raja as an assistant.
Reasons for the Rejection Revealed
According to iDiski Times, Zinnbauer had pushed for Davids to be part of his technical team during negotiations for his two-year deal.
However, it was agreed that a local assistant would be needed to overcome the language barriers.
Not being able to speak French or Arabic could hinder effective communication and the implementation of Zinnbauer’s tactical system.
Raja Club Athletic, currently in sixth place in the Moroccan top-flight, looks set to miss out on the CAF Champions League next season.
Davids’ Challenge at Maritzburg United
Meanwhile, Fadlu Davids faces a daunting task of saving Maritzburg United’s status in the topflight as they are currently in the PSL Promotional Playoffs.
To retain their place in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Maritzburg United must win their next two games against Casric Stars on Saturday and Cape Town Spurs next Wednesday.
The pressure is high as Cape Town Spurs have already earned nine points from three games.
A draw for Spurs would be enough to secure their status, while any slip-up for Davids’ team against Casric Stars would result in relegation.Share on Facebook «||» Share on Twitter «||» Share on Reddit «||» Share on LinkedIn
