PDP Chairman Denounces False Accusations Against Labour Party Candidate in Anambra Presidential Election

…By Larry John for TDPel Media. Chairman of Anambra State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ndubisi Nwobu, has strongly condemned the allegations suggesting that he accused Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, of rigging the presidential election in Anambra on February 25.

Nwobu asserts that his original statement was distorted in order to divert public attention from the real issues at hand.

In a statement delivered by Uloka Chibuike, the deputy director of media and publicity of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Committee, Nwobu clarified that the petition filed by the PDP at the tribunal was against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and not against the Labour Party or Peter Obi.

The statement strongly denounced the fabrication, labeling it as a deliberate attempt by a few individuals to discredit and blackmail Chief Nwobu.

It reiterated that Nwobu appeared before the tribunal on June 7, 2023, as the 11th witness for Atiku Abubakar and the PDP.

During his testimony, Nwobu highlighted INEC’s failure to adhere to its own election guidelines regarding real-time electronic transmission of polling unit results.

The statement further clarified that Nwobu explicitly stated to the tribunal that the Labour Party emerged as the winner of the presidential election in Anambra, and that he did not accuse Peter Obi of rigging it.

Nwobu made it clear that the dispute lay with INEC and not with the Labour Party.

The PDP called on the public to disregard the false news and issued a warning to online bloggers, cautioning them against promoting sensational headlines without conducting thorough investigations.

The party vowed to present all the evidence against INEC and the APC, demonstrating that the presidential mandate, which the majority of Nigerians had given to Atiku Abubakar, was wrongly appropriated.

The PDP stressed the importance of addressing this situation to reclaim the mandate from the APC.
