Police in Winter Park, Florida, responded to a youth soccer match after a league official reported a disturbance involving the family of a three-year-old player known as Nevada.
The incident attracted widespread attention on social media after footage showed the toddler dribbling past older opponents and scoring several goals during an i9 Sports game.
Nevada, who has more than 400,000 followers on TikTok, was playing against children reportedly around five years old when the disagreement occurred.
Viral Video Shows Toddler Dominating Opponents
Footage shared online showed Nevada controlling the ball, moving past opposing players and scoring repeatedly during the match.
In a video posted by the family, the person filming, believed to be Nevada’s father, claimed that other parents had objected to the toddler’s performance because he was holding onto the ball for too long.
“They called the police on a 3-year-old because he is too good,” the cameraman said after officers arrived.
He continued: “They called the police on a 3-year-old because he has the ball for too long. And nobody else can get the ball. So, they called the police on him.”
The footage spread rapidly online, prompting criticism and debate about the treatment of the young player.
Family Claims Nevada Was Removed From the League
Following the incident, Nevada’s family returned to social media and claimed that he had been kicked out of the league.
They shared a screenshot of an alleged email from i9 Sports that appeared to confirm a refund had been processed for the 2026 Fall League.
The family’s post added to the controversy, although it remains unclear whether Nevada was permitted to continue playing on the day of the incident.
Police Explain Why Officers Were Dispatched
Winter Park Police confirmed that a league official had contacted emergency services to report a “disturbance on the field”.
According to the police, officers arrived and informed the parties involved that the disagreement was a civil matter.
Authorities also said the parents were cooperative and left the field without further incident.
Police did not confirm whether Nevada was subsequently allowed to continue participating in the match.
i9 Sports Launches Review Into the Incident
i9 Sports, the youth sports organisation operating the programme, issued a statement acknowledging the concerns raised about the incident.
“We are aware of concerns being shared regarding an incident at a local i9 Sports program, and we take them very seriously,” the organisation told The Daily Mail.
The statement added that the respectful treatment and well-being of every child and family were important to the organisation.
i9 Sports also confirmed that it had contacted Nevada’s family and begun reviewing the circumstances, including speaking with those involved.
“While we work to understand the circumstances, we will not speculate or share unverified information,” the statement said.
The organisation thanked those who had brought their concerns to its attention.
Children’s Influencer Ms Rachel Offers Support
The incident also drew a response from children’s content creator Ms Rachel, who shared a post about Nevada with her six million Instagram followers.
Expressing anger over the situation, she called on people involved in sports to support the young player and provide him with opportunities to develop his abilities.
“I’m LIVID! Please sports people give him all the experiences and love,” she wrote, tagging Nevada’s account.
Ms Rachel also invited the toddler to appear on her show, writing: “We’d love to have him on our show to share his amazing skills. I need sports people to show up for him.”
The incident remains under review by i9 Sports, while police have confirmed that their response ended without further incident.
