Zimbabwean Striker Prince Dube Rescued by Young Africans SC Following Contract Tussle with Azam FC in Tanzania

Young Africans SC, the reigning champions of Tanzania, have made a significant addition to their squad by signing Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube.

This move comes after a turbulent period for Dube, who found himself sidelined at Azam FC due to a contractual dispute towards the end of last season.

Earlier this year, Dube requested to leave Azam FC, but the club insisted he pay a hefty fee of R5 million to terminate his contract prematurely.

The matter escalated to the Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF), with Azam maintaining that Dube was bound by his contract until June 2026, despite his claim that it was set to expire in June 2024.

Eventually, an agreement was reached, clearing the way for Dube to seek new opportunities.

With his contractual issues resolved, Prince Dube has now signed a two-year contract with Young Africans SC.

This move is seen as a fresh start for the 27-year-old striker, who aims to reignite his career with the Tanzanian giants.

Dube first gained prominence in 2017 when he impressed for Zimbabwe during the COSAFA Cup and CHAN qualifiers.

His performances earned him a move to South African club SuperSport United, although he struggled for playing time and was later loaned to Black Leopards.

Despite challenges, Dube returned to Zimbabwe and was recognized as the country’s 2019 Soccer Star of the Year second runner-up.

Impact at Azam FC

Joining Azam FC in 2020, Dube quickly established himself as a prolific goalscorer despite occasional injury setbacks.

In his debut season, he netted 14 goals, narrowly missing out on the Golden Boot award.

International Career

On the international stage, Dube made his debut for Zimbabwe in 2017 and has since scored six goals in nine appearances for the national team.

Looking Ahead

As Dube embarks on this new chapter with Young Africans SC, the club anticipates his contributions both on and off the field.

His signing underscores the club’s commitment to bolstering its squad and enhancing its competitive edge in domestic and continental competitions.

Young Africans SC’s Perspective

Reflecting on the significance of strong media management for football clubs, officials at Young Africans SC emphasize the pivotal role of effective communication strategies in promoting the club’s image and engaging with fans and stakeholders alike.
