Video Shows Greater Manchester Police Officer Kicking and Stamping on Detained Man at Manchester Airport Amidst Taser Use

Have you heard about the recent incident at Manchester Airport? A disturbing video has surfaced showing a Greater Manchester Police officer allegedly kicking a detained man in the head and then stamping on him as the man was already being Tasered on the ground.

This shocking event occurred earlier today at Terminal 2.

According to the video, several officers were on the scene, shouting at bystanders to stay back.

The young man, who appeared to be a holidaymaker, was lying on the ground with his hands restrained.

During this time, one officer seemingly kicked him in the face and then stamped on his head.

At least one Taser was also used on him.

A woman, thought to be a relative of the man, watched in distress and attempted to intervene by pulling the man’s head away from the officers after the stamping.

The video also captured another man, who was sitting nearby, being forcibly detained and allegedly kicked and hit by the same officer.

Eyewitness Account

Amar Rafiq, who filmed the incident, was returning to Manchester from Qatar.

He described his shock to MailOnline, saying, “I was just gobsmacked. The police [officer] just kicked the guy in the face.”

He noted that the scene caused widespread panic, with people fearing for their safety as officers dispersed the crowd.

Police Response

Greater Manchester Police have stated that the video was recorded after officers had been assaulted, with one sustaining a broken nose.

The police clarified that they were responding to a report of an altercation and that the suspect’s violent actions posed a risk to officers’ firearms.

According to their statement, the officers involved were subject to a violent attack, leading to hospital treatment for the injured officers.

Criticism and Reactions

The video has sparked significant backlash online.

Nazir Afzal, former Chief Prosecutor for the northwest, criticized the police response, noting, “I see no justification for the kick in the head, followed by a stamp and a Taser on a prone, unarmed man with his hands by his side.”

Manchester Airport has yet to comment on the incident.
