Tragic Passing of Kevin, the World’s Tallest Male Dog, Days After Guinness Record Announcement in West Des Moines

Kevin, the world’s tallest male dog, passed away just days after Guinness World Records announced his record-breaking achievement.

The three-year-old Great Dane from West Des Moines, Iowa, succumbed to complications following an unexpected surgery after falling ill.

Kevin stood at an impressive height of 0.97 meters (3 feet 2 inches) from his paws to his withers, with a staggering height of nearly 2.1 meters (7 feet) when standing on his hind legs.

Despite his size, he lived peacefully with three other dogs and four cats, claiming the sofa as his throne according to his owner, Mrs. Tracy Wolfe.

Known for his gentle nature and social skills, Kevin was fond of crawling around other dogs to appear less intimidating.

However, he had a playful fear of the family vacuum cleaner, always keeping a safe distance from it.

Despite his hearty appetite, Kevin maintained a trim figure, often amusing onlookers who mistook him for a horse.

His gentle demeanor extended to his feline housemates, where he would give them a playful chase but only to shower them with affection upon catching them.

While Kevin set the record for the tallest male dog at the time, he fell short of the all-time record held by another Great Dane named Zeus, who measured 1.118 meters (3 feet 8 inches) before his passing in 2014 at the age of five.
