The Abuja Police Command has arrested a 63-year-old man named Alhaji Sule Danladi for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his foster daughter, who is seven years old.
Following his arrest, the suspect was arraigned in the FCT High Court in Kubwa, Abuja State.
According to reports, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, has charged the defendant with three counts of incest.
During the court proceedings, the defendant entered a not guilty plea.
The presiding judge identified as Justice Ogbonnaya Kezziah has given a command that the defendant should be reprimanded in the Correctional Facility Center pending the time the court would deliver a ruling concerning the bail application made by his attorney identified as Nuhu Usman.
However, Justice Kezziah Ogbonnaya had adjourned the case till the 3rd of February 2022 for trial.
During the court session, the defense counsel, Nuhu Usman, had informed the court that he already filed a motion for bail in June last year where he seek that the court approved the defendant to bail.
Usman also said that the victim was placed in the custody of the defendant after receiving an interim order of foster parenting from an Abuja Magistrates’ Court in November last year.
While addressing the court, the prosecuting counsel identified as Ibekwe Rose informed the court that the defendant’ s attorney had served her with the application of bail on the 25th of January 2022 while the case was filed in June last year.
The prosecuting counsel also revealed that she had filed a five- paragraph affidavit to prevent the bail application on Tuesday, 1st of February 2022, until the moment the defendant had provided the key witness (the victim).
In her address in the court, the prosecuting counsel revealed that the defendant had purposely had carnal knowledge of his seven- year- old foster daughter using his tongue, sometime last year.
