In a shocking incident that unfolded in Artesia, a 19-year-old named Alexee Trevizo stands accused of the heinous crime of murdering her newborn son inside a hospital restroom.

The Artesia Police Department received a distress call on January 27 reporting the discovery of a newborn baby in a hospital bathroom.

The authorities swiftly initiated an investigation, which led them to identify Trevizo as the suspect.

However, at the time, she was being transported to Lovelace Medical Center in Roswell via an emergency helicopter flight and was not interrogated at the Artesia hospital.

Court documents reveal that Trevizo had arrived at the emergency room complaining of lower back pain and vehemently denied being pregnant.

However, a lab test confirmed her pregnancy, and the news was conveyed to Trevizo and the hospital staff.

In response, she barricaded herself in a bathroom.

After the hospital staff expressed their need to use the bathroom, Trevizo complied and unlocked the door.

To their horror, the nursing staff encountered a gruesome scene as they discovered the toilet drenched in blood.

Immediate medical attention was provided to Trevizo.

Despite an initial search of the toilet and the top of the trash can, nothing significant was found.

However, suspicion arose when a staff member disposed of the trash bag due to its unusual weight.

Two nurses examined the bag more closely and made a horrifying discovery—a lifeless newborn boy within.

Following her evacuation to a hospital in Roswell, Trevizo was interviewed and subsequently charged with first-degree murder.

In a recent court proceeding, she was conditionally released from jail under strict conditions, including a curfew and limited permission to attend school and graduation.

The pretrial hearing for Trevizo’s case is scheduled for September 11, and the jury trial for the murder charge is set to begin on October 2.

The gravity of this crime has left the community shaken, and the upcoming legal proceedings will seek to bring justice for the tragic loss of an innocent life.
