President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios after their film screening in Lagos achieved a Guinness World Record.
The record was set on September 26, 2026, when Black Market attracted the largest attendance ever recorded for a film screening.

The feat was recognised as a Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a film screening, placing the Nigerian production team at the centre of an international milestone.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the accomplishment as another demonstration of the talent driving Nigeria’s growing creative sector.
Tinubu said the success of Black Market reflected what Nigerian creatives can achieve when artistic talent is matched with enterprise and the ability to operate at scale.
The President also pointed to the wider economic potential of the creative industries, including film, music, fashion and art.
