In a tragic series of events, a teenager, who was recently released by the police, committed a fatal assault on a pensioner just half an hour later.
On April 12 of this year, the 15-year-old, who remains unidentified due to his age, first attacked Nadeen Mohammed, a 65-year-old shopkeeper.
The boy used a knife during this encounter, leaving Mr. Mohammed with a significant injury that required stitches.
The Tragic Assault
Later that day, around 11:15 PM, the teenager was released from police custody.
Shortly after his release, he was involved in a second violent incident.
Patrick Colquhoun, a 70-year-old pensioner, was the victim this time.
Mr. Colquhoun had been at the Queen’s Park Cafe and was walking to a nearby takeaway when he encountered the teenager.
CCTV footage shows the boy approaching Mr. Colquhoun and accusing him of urinating on his father’s rental car.
In a sudden act of violence, the teenager punched Mr. Colquhoun, causing him to fall and suffer a fatal head injury.
Court Proceedings and Next Steps
The teenager appeared at the High Court in Glasgow and pleaded guilty to culpable homicide for the death of Mr. Colquhoun and assaulting Mr. Mohammed.
He has been held in a secure unit pending sentencing, which is scheduled for next month.
Judge Lord Harrower has ordered a deferral of the sentencing until October 18, with the teenager remaining in custody until then.
