A new venture capital firm dedicated exclusively to healthcare innovation has officially entered the market, with Marram Ventures launching as an independent investment company following the transition of Arcis Fund I and related investment management activities from The 4100 Group.

The move establishes Marram as a standalone firm with a clear focus on backing technology-driven businesses that improve patient care across multiple areas of healthcare.

Firm Oversees Approximately $80 Million in Healthcare Investments

Marram Ventures begins operations with responsibility for Arcis Fund I while continuing to advise on additional healthcare and venture investments associated with The 4100 Group.

Together, these activities represent roughly $80 million in assets under management or advisement, providing the newly independent firm with a substantial foundation for future investments.

The separation allows Marram to pursue its own investment strategy while maintaining an advisory relationship with The 4100 Group, a permanent capital investment company active in financial services and healthcare.

Investment Strategy Centers on Whole-Person Care

The firm’s investment thesis is built around the concept of whole-person healthcare, recognizing the connection between physical, mental, and oral health rather than treating each as an isolated field.

Marram Ventures plans to invest between $1 million and $3 million in Seed through Series B companies developing technology-enabled healthcare solutions.

Its strategy prioritizes businesses creating innovations that improve patient outcomes while addressing multiple aspects of healthcare delivery.

Existing Portfolio Highlights Diverse Healthcare Technologies

The firm’s portfolio already includes several companies operating across different areas of healthcare innovation.

Among them is Clarapath, a pathology automation robotics company that secured a $36 million Series B financing round backed by investors including Mayo Clinic, Northwell Health, and Ochsner.

Marram also supports Proclaim (Fresh Health), an oral-systemic health company that completed an oversubscribed Series B financing led by Khosla Ventures, as well as Root Functional Medicine, which recently raised a Series A funding round led by HealthX Ventures.

In addition to supporting these existing portfolio companies, Marram intends to expand its investments into new businesses that align with its long-term healthcare vision.

Leadership Team Combines Clinical, Investment and Operational Expertise

The firm is led by Partners Scott Lancaster, MD, MBA, and Mariya Filipova, MBA, bringing together experience from clinical medicine, venture capital, healthcare operations, and corporate innovation.

Lancaster transitioned from practicing radiology into venture investing, previously leading investments at Spectrum Health Ventures.

During his investment career, he backed companies including Gauss Surgical, later acquired by Stryker in a $160 million deal; Ciitizen, acquired by Invitae for $325 million; and Vynca, which has grown into a multistate palliative care provider.

He later established and led the venture platform at The 4100 Group, creating the investment portfolio that now serves as the foundation for Marram Ventures.

Healthcare Innovation Veteran Strengthens Investment Focus

Filipova contributes extensive experience across the healthcare ecosystem, particularly in advancing integrated care models.

She previously served as Vice President of Innovation at Anthem, now known as Elevance Health, where she developed programs designed to translate emerging scientific discoveries into scalable healthcare products and services.

Before joining Anthem, she held leadership positions at Deloitte and worked as an analyst at Barclays Capital, giving her experience across consulting, finance, and healthcare operations that supports Marram’s investment strategy.

Wyoming-Based Firm Positions Itself for Future Healthcare Growth

Headquartered in Sheridan, Wyoming, Marram Ventures aims to expand investment opportunities in companies developing technology-enabled healthcare solutions that improve patient care across physical, mental, and oral health.

By operating as an independent venture capital firm while maintaining ties to The 4100 Group, Marram is positioning itself to pursue a broader pipeline of healthcare investments as demand for integrated care technologies continues to grow.
