Zimbabwean defender Ronald Pfumbidzai is embarking on a fresh journey after being deemed surplus to requirements at SuperSport United.
His time with the team during the 2023/24 season saw him primarily on the sidelines, despite his arrival from Chippa United in July 2023.
To revitalize his career and secure more playing time, Pfumbidzai has signed with Scottland FC, a promising Zimbabwean team. Scottland FC is competing in the Northern Region Division One and is a strong contender for promotion to Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League (PSL).
While specifics about Pfumbidzai’s contract remain under wraps, his new team includes notable players such as former Kaizer Chiefs defender Lincoln Zvasiya and ex-Jomo Cosmos midfielder Denver Mukamba.
SuperSport United’s Shake-Up
In addition to losing Pfumbidzai, SuperSport United has undergone several changes. The club parted ways with players like Keegan Allan, Shandre Campbell, and Jesse Donn. Abdulrazack Hamza, Etiosa Ighodaro, Thalente Mbatha, Phathutshedzo Nange, Selaelo Rasebotja, and Siyanda Xulu also left.
The most significant departure was 18-year-old winger Shandre Campbell, who transferred to Club Brugge in Belgium.
New Faces and Changes
SuperSport United has made several new additions to their squad. Nyiko Mobbie, known for his versatility in defense, and experienced forward Vincent Pule have joined the team.
Goalkeeper Ricardo Goss has returned on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, and Pogisho Sanoka, previously with TS Galaxy, has also been signed.
However, the club decided against acquiring Keagan Dolly, despite his completed medicals and readiness to sign. According to CEO Stan Matthews, the decision was made by coach Gavin Hunt.
