Christopher Aaron Nicks, the younger brother of Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks, has died aged 72 after privately battling cancer for two and a half years.
His daughter, Nixi, confirmed his death in an emotional Instagram post, revealing that Christopher died early Friday morning surrounded by members of his family.
Daughter Nixi Announces His Death
Sharing a photograph of herself holding her father’s hand, Nixi said she was announcing his passing with a “broken heart.”
She explained that Christopher had deliberately kept his cancer diagnosis private because he did not want those close to him to worry.
Nixi also reflected on the number of people her father had touched throughout his life, saying his death would leave a sense of loss extending well beyond their immediate family.
She paid tribute to his friendships, particularly the group of friends he affectionately regarded as his “lost boys.”
Nixi ended her message with a touching farewell, writing: “Rest easy, Coach. We will see you in Neverland.”
Mick Fleetwood Remembers Christopher
Christopher’s death also prompted an emotional tribute from Mick Fleetwood, the Fleetwood Mac co-founder who shared decades of history with Stevie Nicks and her family.
Fleetwood described Christopher’s passing as a moment that brought back many memories of his life, particularly those connected to Fleetwood Mac.
He remembered Christopher’s extraordinary enthusiasm for life and described him as a “forever beacon of inspiration.”
Fleetwood added that Christopher would be deeply missed by him and by the wider Fleetwood Mac family, ending his tribute with a message of peace and love.
A Private Figure Behind Stevie’s Career
Unlike his famous sister, Christopher largely stayed away from the public spotlight.
However, he remained an important figure in Stevie’s life and played a meaningful role behind the scenes throughout her career.
Stevie had previously spoken openly about the importance of her family, once recalling an emotional moment when she desperately wanted to contact her brother.
She described waking in the middle of the night in tears because she missed Christopher and wanted to hear from him, only to realise she did not have his phone number readily available.
The singer explained that the experience reminded her just how deeply she valued her family and the people closest to her.
Christopher’s Family Life
Christopher was the father of Nixi, whom he welcomed with his former wife, Lori Perry-Nicks.
Lori had a connection to Stevie’s musical career herself, having previously performed as one of Stevie’s backing singers.
Following Christopher’s death, Lori also shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, remembering him as someone who lived life fully and stood apart from anyone else.
She described him as an “anomaly” and said there would never be another person like him.
A Family Loss Felt Beyond the Spotlight
Although Christopher lived largely outside the intense public attention surrounding his sister, the tributes underline the important place he held within Stevie’s family and the wider circle around Fleetwood Mac.
His death marks a deeply personal loss for Stevie Nicks and those who knew him, while the memories shared by his daughter, former wife and Mick Fleetwood offer a glimpse into the character of the man behind the famous family name.
