Russell Martin is facing growing criticism from Leicester City supporters after his side suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at home to Oxford United in League One.
The heavy loss on Saturday marked Leicester’s worst-ever defeat in the third tier and left the Foxes languishing 17th in the table.
They have managed only one victory from their opening five matches, alongside two draws and two defeats.
The result has intensified frustration at a club that many expected to challenge immediately for promotion after consecutive relegations took them from the Premier League to League One.
Young Squad Becomes Focus of Martin’s Explanation
Martin pointed to the inexperience of his squad when assessing Leicester’s collapse against Oxford.
The manager selected five players aged under 23 in his starting XI, with two of them still teenagers.
His substitutes were also predominantly youngsters, with the five players introduced during the match aged 18, 19, 20, 21 and 23.

One fan claimed Martin was refusing to acknowledge weaknesses in his tactics and playing style, instead attributing the result to inexperience and a demanding schedule.
Another described the manager’s explanation as “nonsense” and argued that the same problems had been evident throughout the week.
The criticism reflects the growing pressure surrounding Martin, who has endured a difficult spell since taking charge.
His previous managerial appointment at Rangers lasted only 123 days before he was dismissed.
