Samuel Anyanwu is a husband and father, sharing three children with his wife, Florence Olachi Anywanu (née Madumere).

IV. Educational Background of Samuel Anyanwu
Samuel Anyanwu’s educational journey traces back to his early years. He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from the Road Primary School, Abia, in 1977.

Samuel Anyanwu’s political journey began in earnest when he was elected Chairman of the Ikeduru Local Government Area in Imo State in 2004. He served in this capacity until 2007, effectively overseeing local governance.
Following this, Anyanwu took on the responsibility of representing his local government in the Imo State House of Assembly, running on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
His legislative service spanned two terms, from 2007 to 2015, and he chaired several significant House Committees during this tenure.
In 2015, Anyanwu pursued a broader political horizon by vying for the Imo East senate seat, securing victory under the PDP banner.
During his tenure in the eighth National Assembly, he held key positions in the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, the Senate Committee on Customs, Excise, and Tariffs, and the Senate Committee on Marine Transport.
Moreover, he assumed the role of Chairman for Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions within the Senate.
Although Samuel Anyanwu aspired to secure the PDP nomination for the governorship of Imo State in the 2019 elections, he narrowly missed it.
However, he rebounded and was appointed as the PDP South East Zone’s national secretary consensus candidate in 2021, a position he continues to occupy.
Currently, Samuel Anyanwu is the chosen PDP gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming Imo state gubernatorial election, set to take place on November 11, 2023.
