Royal Family’s Balmoral Summer Tradition Continues Without Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Sources Reveal from Scottish Highlands

As summer unfolds, Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands is once again the center of royal activity. King Charles III is continuing the tradition of visiting the estate, a practice started by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

However, this year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be making the trip.

Reports indicate that Prince Harry, Meghan, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, haven’t been included in this year’s Balmoral gathering.

This news, first mentioned by People magazine, has not been officially confirmed by the Sussexes or Buckingham Palace. MailOnline has reached out to both parties for confirmation.

Among those expected to attend are Prince William and Kate, along with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Sources suggest it will be a low-key event this year, focused on relaxation rather than grandeur.

Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, are also likely to be there. The gathering is scheduled for mid-August.

Prince Harry has often expressed his fondness for Balmoral, recalling his childhood experiences there with great nostalgia.

In his memoir *Spare*, he described the estate as his “Paradise,” comparing it to a blend of Disney World and a sacred grove.

However, his relationship with Balmoral is tinged with sadness due to Queen Elizabeth II’s passing there in September 2022.

During Queen Elizabeth’s final days, Harry was in the UK with Meghan when he received the news of her deteriorating health. Although he planned to travel to Balmoral, he was advised by his father not to bring Meghan along.

Tragically, by the time he arrived in Scotland, he learned of the Queen’s death from a news website.

Currently, Balmoral is open to the public for tours until August 4.

Guided tour tickets, which also include an afternoon tea option, sold out quickly. Only 40 people per day are allowed to visit the castle.

Sussexes’ Upcoming Plans

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are making headlines for their upcoming visit to Colombia.

They’ve been invited by Vice President Francia Márquez, though the exact dates are still pending. They’re also set to discuss cyber safety for children in an interview with Jane Pauley this Sunday on CBS.

Strained Relations

Recent reports suggest that Harry and Charles’s relationship remains strained.

Sources claim that the King has stopped taking Harry’s calls and responding to his letters. The last time they met in person was in February, but tensions have reportedly increased, especially concerning Harry’s security issues in the UK.

Meghan’s Concerns

Meghan is reportedly frustrated by the ongoing legal battles over security. A source close to the couple mentioned that Meghan wishes Harry could move past these issues and focus on living in the moment.

Despite her desire for him to be free from these burdens, she understands the challenges he faces.
