Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz has revealed that he and his wife, Jady, are expecting another child following the heartbreaking loss of their baby last year.
The Brazilian forward opened up about the personal difficulties he experienced during the previous season, explaining that he underwent surgery while his wife was pregnant before they tragically suffered a miscarriage.
Muniz shared the news during an emotional interview with Fulham’s club media after scoring in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United at Craven Cottage.
Muniz dedicates Newcastle goal to unborn baby
The 25-year-old found the net in the 83rd minute to rescue a point for Fulham, registering his first Premier League goal since August 2025.
Speaking after the match, Muniz disclosed that the previous campaign had been particularly challenging because of the difficulties he and his wife experienced away from football.
“Last season was really difficult for me because, now I can say, I had surgery, my wife was pregnant last season but unfortunately we lost the baby,” he said.
The striker also revealed that Jady is pregnant again, expressing gratitude and hope that the current campaign will bring a different experience for their family.
“But God is good all the time and now she is pregnant again.
The goal was for my baby and I hope this season will be different to last season,” he added.
Brazilian forward hopes to earn starting opportunity
Muniz has yet to start a Premier League match under new Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa this season.
The forward has made all eight of his league appearances from the substitutes’ bench, but hopes his contribution against Newcastle will help him earn more playing time after the international break.
He explained that he has continued working hard in training while waiting for an opportunity to establish himself in the starting lineup.
“I train hard every week to get opportunities to play and I want to play more,” Muniz said.
“I cannot control that but I showed to the gaffer I want to play more.
“And I have to keep training hard for him to say, ‘okay, now is your time’, and then I’m ready.”
Muniz insists he is ready whenever called upon
The Brazilian acknowledged that strikers must remain prepared to contribute regardless of how much time they are given on the pitch.
“To be a striker, you need to be ready to play five or ten minutes.
Of course, I want to play more. And I want to start as well,” he said.
Muniz also discussed the importance of the international break for Fulham, particularly with several players involved in national team commitments.
He noted that around 10 players are involved with their respective national teams, making the available training periods particularly valuable for the squad.
“We have a lot of players in the national team. We train with, I think, ten players.
“It’s really important because we cannot stay out for too long.
“And when we have time to work it’s really good – because it’s really important that the gaffer can show us what he wants and we have time to do it,” he added.
