Woman and Brothel Owner Detained in Akure Socialite’s Mysterious Death

Police Apprehend Two Suspects in Connection with Akure Socialite’s Murder

The Ondo State Police Command has taken into custody two individuals linked to the alleged murder of 43-year-old socialite, Mr. Oladoyinbo Adebayo, also known as Saybayo, in Akure.

Saybayo’s lifeless body was discovered in his vehicle in the Ijapo area of Akure on December 10, 2023, a day after he was reported missing.

Details of the Crime Unfold: Lover’s Claim and Brothel Owner’s Confession

According to Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Atinuke Adeniyi, one of the suspects, asserted that she and the deceased were romantically involved.

Adeniyi claimed that after an intimate encounter at a brothel, Saybayo started convulsing, prompting her to leave him. The owner of the brothel, Mr. Ilesanmi Adeojo, confessed to abandoning the corpse where it was eventually found.

Police Statement on the Investigation

In a statement released on Friday, January 12, 2024, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) provided insight into the ongoing investigation.

The PPRO stated, “On the 10th of December, 2023, the corpse of Mr. Oladoyinbo Adebayo AKA Saybayo was abandoned in his car in Ijapo.

Police SWAT took over the case, leading to the arrest of one Atinuke Adeniyi, who claimed she and the deceased were involved in a romantic affair.”

Confessions and Fear: Brothel Owner’s Admission

The PPRO continued, “They made out at a brothel in Ijapo a day before his body was found.

She claimed the deceased started convulsing after they finished, and out of fear, she abandoned him and left. The suspect led Police to the said place, and one Mr. Ilesanmi Adeojo, the owner of the brothel, was arrested.

He confessed to having driven the car with the corpse in it to where he was found, also claiming he did it out of fear. The investigation is ongoing, and suspects will be charged to court upon completion.”
