Orlando Pirates pressure doesn’t faze Miguel Timm

Durban – Miguel Timm was signed in an effort to bolster the Orlando Pirates roster for the 2022/23 season and provide excitement to the club’s relatively new initiative.

Pirates grabbed the former Marumo Gallants midfielder from Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs, allowing Timm to join the Sea Robbers in a spectacular turn of events.

The 31-year-old midfielder joined Thapelo Xoki, Nkosinathi Sibisi, and Bienvenu Eva Nga, who have all discussed the pressures of representing one of the continent’s most prestigious clubs.

Timm, on the other hand, has claimed that he does not feel any pressure and has turned the expectations of wearing the black and white of the Pirates into a positive.

“I recognize that this is a major club, one of the biggest clubs I’ve played for,” he told Pirates TV, “but over the years I’ve gained knowledge and an understanding of what winning is all about.”

We may utilize this as motivation to give us that extra push to compete in all of the upcoming tournaments.

Timm has progressively pushed his way into the starting lineup of new coach Jose Riveiro’s squad after a slow start.

This season, he has made seven appearances for the Buccaneers, replacing fan favorites Thabang Monare and Ben Motshwari while pairing with Goodman Mosele.

Timm’s experience with Mpumalanga Black Aces, Bidvest Wits, and Maritzburg United, together with his streetwise personality, could boost his pursuit of a regular position in the Pirates’ most trusted 11.

In the 2020/21 season, while playing for Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, he captured the Nedbank Cup at the expense of one of his former clubs, Chippa United, to earn his first trophy as a professional.

Timm has set his sights on fresh goals at his new club, aims that align with those of Edward ‘Magents’ Motale, one of the club’s most revered sons.

“I want to continue to work hard for the team and improve so that I am always in a position to contribute to the team’s success,” he said.

“I would like to be remembered in the same manner as Magents, the ultimate example. I believe he set a high standard for us as individuals and a team because he was a natural leader with multiple trophies.
