Oops! WRONG Lottery numbers announced – MILLIONS at stake

Mega Millions, an American-based lottery game, was forced to withhold millions in payouts to players, due to a mix-up.

The official announcer of the Mega Millions results made a costly mistake – announcing the wrong number during a drawing last week. He read the wrong number on air, calling a ‘6’ instead of a ‘9’.

“On May 10, 2022, the host of the Mega Millions® drawing incorrectly called the Mega Ball a 6 instead of a 9. The 9 ball was drawn into the chamber and is the official result. The results of the drawing were audited by Preston CPA,” lottery officials said in a brief statement not long after the blunder was aired.

They confirmed the winning numbers as: 15, 19, 20, 61, and 70, plus the gold Mega Ball 9.

LOTTERY TICKET HOLDERS URGED TO NOT CLAIM WINNINGS

Mega Millions officials urged ticket holders to not claim their winnings, just yet. A whopping $86 million was up for grabs during the draw

“The New York Lottery is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. The Lottery has temporarily suspended prize payments for all Mega Millions tickets and all Mega Millions players should hold their tickets for the May 10, 2022 drawing until the issue is resolved,” they said.

For now, nobody has come forward to claim the ticket – both with the real numbers as well as the wrongly announced ones.
