Lagos Police to Hold Press Conference on Investigation into Mohbad’s Death

The Lagos Command of the Nigerian Police Force has scheduled a press conference to provide updates on the investigation into the untimely demise of the emerging music artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known professionally as Mohbad.

The press conference will be conducted by Lagos State Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, and is set to take place at the state headquarters in Ikeja.

The scheduled press conference was officially confirmed on Thursday by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Public Relations Officer, during a phone conversation with Punch.

Hundeyin emphasized that Commissioner Owohunwa will address the press at 3 pm, inviting inquiries and promising answers.

Mohbad’s sudden demise occurred on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that raised questions and controversies.

His passing triggered various reactions, with allegations implicating individuals such as Naira Marley and Sam Larry in connection with his death.

Police Obtains Remand Warrant:

Earlier, the Lagos State Police Command secured a remand warrant to detain singer Naira Marley and music promoter Sam Larry for a longer period beyond the standard 48-hour limit, as permitted by the constitution.

This development was in response to an ongoing investigation into the tragic death of Mohbad.

Denial of Court Arraignment:

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos Command Police, clarified that Naira Marley and Sam Larry were not arraigned in court on Wednesday, contrary to some media reports.

Instead, the remand warrant was obtained to facilitate further inquiries into the case.
