Washington Commanders fans were left reeling after a disastrous 38-12 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
The loss was made even worse by injuries to two key players, with cornerback Marshon Lattimore feared to have torn his ACL and quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocating his elbow in the final minutes of the game.
Marshon Lattimore Faces Possible Season-Ending Injury
Lattimore left the game early in the second half after suffering a knee injury, and NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports he is scheduled for an MRI to determine the severity.
If confirmed as an ACL tear, the 29-year-old will require surgery and face a six-to-nine-month recovery period, potentially ending his season.
This would be a tough setback for Lattimore, who had been enjoying a strong run with the Commanders.
After a trade from the New Orleans Saints in November 2024, he had only appeared in two games last season due to injury but had played in all nine of Washington’s games this year before Sunday’s incident.
Jayden Daniels Injures Elbow in Consolation Play
The Commanders’ woes didn’t end with Lattimore.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels, last year’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, dislocated his left elbow while attempting a consolation touchdown late in the game.
He fell awkwardly after being tackled by linebacker Drake Thomas and had to be helped off the field wearing a brace.
Although it initially appeared his season could be over, reports now suggest the injury may not be as severe as first feared.
Fortunately, Daniels’ throwing arm was not affected, offering some relief to fans and the team.
Fan Backlash on Coaching Decisions
Daniels’ injury sparked anger among Commanders fans, many blaming head coach Dan Quinn for leaving him in the game while trailing 38-7.
Social media was flooded with criticism:
-
“No reason why your starting QB should be in the game down 38-7 playing in garbage time,” one fan wrote.
 -
“Dan Quinn should be fired for letting Jayden Daniels get hurt.
 -
Down 31 with 7 minutes left, why is he still playing?” commented another.

Even NBC broadcaster Cris Collinsworth questioned the decision during the live broadcast, acknowledging the risks but also highlighting Daniels’ determination to finish the play.
Team Looks Ahead Amid Injury Concerns
Sunday’s game has left Washington in a challenging position, needing to navigate upcoming matches without the certainty of key contributors.
Lattimore’s potential season-ending injury and Daniels’ uncertain timeline highlight the fragility of the Commanders’ current roster.
The team now faces a critical period where recovery, strategy, and depth will be tested as they attempt to turn a rough stretch around in the NFL season.
