Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola Blasts FA for Pushing Max Alleyne Beyond Limits, Resulting in Injury on England Duty

Pep Guardiola has intensified his ongoing frustration with the Football Association (FA) after expressing concern over the handling of young defender Max Alleyne during his time with the England Under-20s.

The Manchester City manager is particularly upset with the way the 19-year-old returned from international duty carrying fitness issues.

Max Alleyne’s Injury Problem

Alleyne, who has yet to make his professional debut, was called up to play for England’s Under-20s but returned with a fitness problem that will keep him sidelined for a month.

Guardiola believes the issue stems from how the national team managed his condition while he was away.

Despite the teenager having no senior experience, he played in two matches, and now he faces a period of recovery.

Lack of Communication Between Medical Teams

Guardiola’s frustration is further compounded by what he sees as a breakdown in communication between the medical teams at Manchester City and the national team.

He compared the situation to a similar concern he raised over Jack Grealish’s call-up to the senior squad earlier.

According to Guardiola, when players go to international camps not at their best and then push their limits, it’s inevitable that injuries will follow.

“The national team pushed Max’s limits and he came back injured,” Guardiola explained.

“There should be more communication between the medical departments. If a player isn’t in perfect condition and plays multiple games, it’s no surprise when they get injured. Now we’re set to lose him for a month.”

Key Players Returning, But More Injuries for City

As Manchester City prepares for their upcoming match against Tottenham, Guardiola will be relieved to have several key players returning to the squad.

However, the manager also revealed that another injury has kept Mateo Kovacic out of action.

The Croatian midfielder picked up an injury while away with his national team and is expected to miss a month.

Boost for City as Some Players Return to Training

Guardiola is optimistic about the return of some key figures.

John Stones, Manuel Akanji, and Nathan Ake are all back in training, though Guardiola remains uncertain whether they’ll be ready for a full 90 minutes of action.

Regardless, the manager believes their return to the squad is a much-needed boost for the team.

“Some of them trained well yesterday,” Guardiola said.

“John looked good, Manu was solid in training, and Nathan is also coming back. It’s a positive sign, and we’ll see how they progress in the next few days.”
