Magesi FC’s head coach, Clinton Larsen, recently addressed the misconception held by some top-tier teams that facing his side would be an easy win.
This perception is slowly being challenged as Magesi continues to show their strength and determination on the pitch.
A Promising Season for Magesi FC
After securing promotion this season by finishing first in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Magesi FC has been making waves in the top division.
Their recent form has been impressive, with four wins and three draws in their last seven matches across all competitions.
This momentum was highlighted by their victory over Richards Bay FC, which earned them a spot in the Carling Knockout Cup final, where they will face Mamelodi Sundowns.
Changing Minds and Defying Expectations
Larsen believes that his team is gradually shifting the narrative about their abilities.
He points out that many people initially underestimated Magesi, expecting them to be an easy target, similar to Cape Town Spurs, who had a brief stint in the Premiership before relegation.
However, Larsen is confident that their recent performances have proven they are a force to be reckoned with.
“You remind me of the Betway Premiership launch when Thomas said every team that looks at Magesi sees free three points, but we are slowly changing that perception,” Larsen remarked.
“Maybe people are comparing us to what happened with Cape Town Spurs the other season, but I believe we’re proving we’re not that easy to beat.”
Focus on Improvement
Larsen is focused on continuing to improve Magesi’s organization and defensive strength.
“My job is to make sure this team is as difficult to beat as possible, and I believe we are on the right track,” he added.
Currently sitting in 11th place on the league table with six points from six matches, Magesi is making steady progress in their top-flight journey.
