Halt to Demolitions in Kosofe Local Government Area

In a separate matter of urgent public importance, the House addressed the issue of house demolitions in the Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos.

Hon. Sanni Okanlawon brought the matter to the attention of his colleagues, stating that some policemen had carried out demolitions in the area, going beyond the intended target of shanties and destroying many other buildings.

The House immediately ordered the State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit to cease all demolition activities in the Kosofe Local Government Area with immediate effect.

The decision came after learning that over 300 people had lost their homes, properties, and sources of livelihood due to the demolitions.

Speaker Obasa directed the Clerk to write a letter to CSA Jejeloye and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment, instructing them to halt the demolitions.
