Kaizer Chiefs Prepare to Part Ways with Midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa After Just One Year in Johannesburg

Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up to say farewell to Sibongiseni Mthethwa, just a year after he joined the team from Stellenbosch FC.

It seems the midfielder’s time at Amakhosi is coming to an end sooner than expected.

Mthethwa’s Departure Looms

Sibongiseni Mthethwa first joined Kaizer Chiefs on September 7, 2023, from Stellenbosch FC.

Despite making 20 appearances, the 30-year-old from Escourt is now on his way out.

After working under coach Nabi since July, it’s clear that Mthethwa is no longer in the team’s plans.

According to iDiski Times’ Sinethemba Makonco, Kaizer Chiefs attempted to offer Mthethwa back to Stellenbosch FC and also to AmaZulu FC.

Unfortunately, these efforts have been unsuccessful.

“Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa has been offered to Stellenbosch FC and AmaZulu, but neither team is interested, leaving his future uncertain,” the report states.

Further details reveal that Mthethwa was proposed for a season-long loan to his former club, Stellenbosch, which declined. Additionally, negotiations with AmaZulu FC also fell through.

As for the new season, Kaizer Chiefs have released their first 10 fixtures for the 2024/25 Betway Premiership.

The season kicks off with an away match against Marumo Gallants in Bloemfontein on September 14, followed by a home game against Stellenbosch FC on September 22.

Da Cruz Moves On

In a surprising twist, Kaizer Chiefs are also losing a key member of their coaching staff.

Fernando Da Cruz, who has been serving as an assistant coach under Nasreddine Nabi, is set to leave for a new role.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has offered him a position as Technical Director.

Kaizer Chiefs have officially confirmed the move.

“Kaizer Chiefs wishes to announce that the Club has accepted an offer for assistant coach Fernando Da Cruz to take up a position at the Moroccan Football Federation,” the statement reads.

Da Cruz expressed his gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank Kaizer Chiefs, the Chairman, and all the supporters for the warm welcome.

Thank you to everyone involved for making my time here fantastic. I wish this great club all the best.”

Kaizer Chiefs echoed these sentiments, appreciating Da Cruz’s contributions and supporting his decision.

Further updates will follow as the team continues to adjust to these changes.
