Fans of Kaizer Chiefs, affectionately known as Amakhosi, are eager to put last weekend’s crushing 4-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns behind them.
After such a disappointing performance, the team’s focus now shifts towards regrouping and bouncing back.
What lies ahead for them? The straightforward answer is an intensive training regimen.
A Break from Competitive Action
While teams like Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns gear up for league matches this week, Kaizer Chiefs will be taking a breather midweek.
Their next challenge won’t arrive until the Carling Knockout semi-finals this weekend, followed by a pause for the FIFA International break next week.
As it stands, Amakhosi won’t return to the pitch until November 27, when they face Richards Bay at home.
That gives them a significant 22-day gap before they can compete again.
Injury Updates and Player Returns
In more encouraging news, Kaizer Chiefs are getting closer to reuniting with a trio of players who have been sidelined due to injuries.
Ahead of last Saturday’s quarterfinal clash against Mamelodi Sundowns, coach Nabi addressed the media, emphasizing the importance of carefully reintegrating George Matlou, Mduduzi Mdantsane, and Tebogo Potsane back into the squad.
“It’s true they’ve been injured for quite some time. All three are done with rehabilitation and are currently training with the group,” Nabi shared, according to FARPost.
He continued, “They’ve joined the team and are training, but we need to be cautious about how we bring them back into official matches.
For example, George has been out for over a year; we need to give him time to train and participate in friendly games to rebuild his connection with the team before considering him for official matches.”
With this thoughtful approach, the Kaizer Chiefs coach aims to ensure a smooth and effective transition for his returning players.
