There’s growing speculation that Kaizer Chiefs may be facing the possibility of losing their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, after just one season at the club.
The latest reports suggest Nabi could be headed elsewhere, leaving Chiefs fans uncertain about the future of the team.
The Journey to Bring Nabi to Chiefs
It wasn’t easy for Chiefs to secure Nabi’s services.
The club worked hard to bring him in after an earlier attempt fell through.
His arrival was meant to signal the start of a new chapter for the team, as many believed the Tunisian coach was the key to returning the club to its former glory.
In fact, Chiefs had to go back and pay compensation to his previous club, a clear indication of how determined they were to land him.
His potential was undeniable, and it was thought that he was the right man to lead the club forward.
Negotiations and the Struggles to Secure Nabi
Nabi’s journey to Chiefs wasn’t without obstacles.
Initially, he was supposed to join the team at the start of the previous season, but negotiations hit a snag.
Reports suggest that Chiefs wouldn’t allow him to bring in his preferred coaching staff, even asking him to keep former coach Arthur Zwane as part of his team.
After those talks broke down, Chiefs didn’t give up on Nabi.
A year later, they traveled to Morocco to negotiate with his former team, AS FAR.
After agreeing to pay compensation, Nabi finally made the move to Chiefs.
Rumors of an Exit After Just One Season
Now, barely halfway through his first season at Chiefs, Nabi is already being linked with exits.
Earlier, rumors suggested he could be heading to Raja Casablanca, and now, there’s fresh speculation connecting him to the Tunisian National Team job.
According to reports from KickOff.com, Nabi has been shortlisted as a candidate for the prestigious role with Tunisia’s national team.
Nabi on Tunisia’s Shortlist for National Team Manager
A new report has surfaced suggesting that Nabi’s name is being considered for the managerial role with the Tunisian national team.
Sources in Tunisia claim the Tunisian Football Federation is seriously considering Nabi, even though he’s only been with Chiefs for a short time.
In fact, the federation is reportedly offering a salary of $9,000 (around R166,000) per month for the position.
Nabi is competing with other candidates, including free agent Sami Trabelsi, Maher Kanzari from Stade Tunisien, and Mehdi Nafti of Al-Khor SC.
What Does This Mean for Chiefs?
With such significant rumors swirling about Nabi’s future, it leaves Chiefs fans wondering what might happen next.
If Nabi were to leave after just one season, it would certainly be a tough blow to the club’s ambitions.
What do you think, Chiefs supporters? Would you be disappointed if Nabi moved on so soon, or is this just part of the unpredictability of football?
