It looks like Kaizer Chiefs might have a chance to snag Bafana Bafana and Polokwane City star Oswin Appollis after all.
According to recent reports from SABC Sport, Appollis’ anticipated move to MC Alger is on the brink of falling through.
Deal with MC Alger in Jeopardy
Just a few weeks back, Appollis seemed poised to join the Algerian side MC Alger.
However, it appears there’s been no formal agreement between MC Alger and Polokwane City yet.
The main issue is that the Algerian transfer window is about to close on Tuesday at midnight, which complicates matters.
Adding to the difficulty, Appollis is currently in South Sudan with Bafana Bafana, making it nearly impossible for him to complete any required medical checks.
Chiefs Watching Closely
This situation is definitely on the radar for Kaizer Chiefs, especially since their coach, Nasreddine Nabi, is looking for a quality winger.
With the domestic transfer window closing on September 20, Chiefs have a window of opportunity to finalize a deal for Appollis if Polokwane City is willing to sell at a potentially lower price.
Appollis’ Transfer Saga
SABC Sport has noted that Appollis’ highly publicized move to Algeria is hanging by a thread.
Initially, Polokwane City had agreed to sell him before the Betway Premiership season began.
Yet, weeks later, neither MC Alger nor Polokwane City has completed the paperwork for the transfer.
Chiefs’ Recent Signings
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs have been busy bolstering their squad.
They’ve already signed eight new players from various teams, both locally and internationally.
Their latest recruits include Bongani Sam from Orlando Pirates, Gaston Sirino from Mamelodi Sundowns, and Fiacre Ntwari from TS Galaxy, among others.
Their eighth signing is Donay Jansen, who has been given a long-term contract with the club.
What’s Next for Kaizer Chiefs?
With the transfer window winding down, it will be interesting to see if Kaizer Chiefs can capitalize on this opportunity to bring Appollis into their squad.
