Non-indigenous communities in Kaduna State have publicly declared their support for Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The groups, operating under the Kaduna State Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for the All Progressives Congress, made their position known during a large political rally held in Kaduna on Saturday.
The event was organised under the theme, “Together as One, We Stand for Uba Sani – Our Man.”
Supporters March Through Major Kaduna Roads
The rally began at about 9am around Kigo Road, an area with a large population of non-indigenous residents.
Participants then marched through Constitution Road and the busy Ahmadu Bello Way before arriving at the APC secretariat along Muhammadu Buhari Way, formerly known as WAFF Road, at around 11am.
The gathering took on a carnival-like atmosphere, with members of different ethnic associations carrying placards and banners in support of the APC administration.
Governor’s Representative Promises Equal Treatment
Comrade Jerry Adams, who is expected to serve as Governor Sani’s running mate in the 2027 governorship election, represented the governor at the rally.
Adams told participants that the state government was committed to treating residents equally regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
He described Sani as a governor for all residents of Kaduna and said the administration recognised the contributions of people from different communities living and conducting legitimate businesses in the state.
‘Kaduna Belongs to Everybody’
Adams also sought to reassure non-indigenous residents about the security of their businesses and properties.
According to him, the administration’s position was that Kaduna should remain a state where people from different backgrounds could live and work without being pressured to leave.
He said the governor’s policies and programmes demonstrated an intention to accommodate Muslims, Christians and people from different ethnic groups.
APC Supporters Urged to Mobilise Ahead of 2027
The governor’s representative used the occasion to call on the participating communities to intensify their political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Adams urged attendees to reach out to their families, friends and members of their respective communities as the political campaign for the next election cycle gathers momentum.
He thanked the groups for what he described as their solidarity with the governor, the APC and the people of Kaduna State.
Tinubu Administration Also Receives Backing
The rally was not limited to support for the Kaduna State government, with participants also expressing support for President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government.
Adams urged the various communities to maintain their support for the Tinubu administration, saying both the state and federal governments were focused on improving the welfare of Nigerians.
The endorsement formed part of the wider political message delivered at the rally ahead of the 2027 elections.
Local Government Chairman Highlights Government Programmes
Larai Ishaku, Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area, also addressed the gathering and highlighted government programmes targeted at improving the welfare and economic circumstances of residents.
She pointed specifically to initiatives aimed at supporting businesses and helping residents strengthen their livelihoods.
Ishaku encouraged residents to continue supporting programmes they believe could promote good governance and improve living standards.
Ethnic Associations Reaffirm Political Commitment
One of the rally’s conveners, Chief John Nwankwere, said the event was organised to demonstrate the commitment of non-indigenous communities to the APC administration.
He said the participating groups would continue mobilising support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Chief Patrick Lawson, Chairman of the Political Committee of Ndigbos in Kaduna State, also reaffirmed the Igbo community’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and participation in the political process.
Rally Highlights Kaduna’s Diverse Political Base
The event brought together representatives of several ethnic communities, with organisers presenting the turnout as a demonstration of unity among non-indigenous residents.
Speakers repeatedly emphasised peaceful coexistence and political participation while calling for continued support for the APC.
The rally ended with leaders of the participating associations reaffirming their support for Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu as the country moves towards the 2027 general elections.
