Jordan’s Petra news agency quoted the official spokesperson for the Jordanian Air Force as confirming that eight missiles had been intercepted.
Separately, Al Hadath television, citing a Jordanian military spokesperson, reported that Jordanian air defenses had destroyed ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran.
The military official said the operation to intercept the aerial threats had subsequently been completed.
Iran Claims US Facilities Were Targeted
The reported interceptions came shortly after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that it had struck US military bases in Jordan.
According to the Iranian account, the attacks destroyed maintenance infrastructure and sites used for the deployment of fighter aircraft. Iranian authorities did not provide further details about the alleged damage or identify the specific facilities involved.
Tehran Links Attack to US Strike on Iran
Iran said its operation against US positions in Jordan was carried out in response to an American attack on Larak Island in southern Iran.
The competing claims have emerged amid heightened regional tensions, with Iran portraying its actions as retaliation while Jordan says its air defenses were activated to protect its airspace from incoming threats.
