The Israeli military has announced the killing of a Hamas operative it says was directly involved in the October 7 attack on Israel and the captivity of an Israeli hostage.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Sabai Zaher Abd al-Hamid Abu Hasna, identified as a member of Hamas’ elite Nukhba force, was killed during a recent operation in Gaza.
Israeli authorities allege that Abu Hasna crossed into Israeli territory during the October 7 assault and later played a role in holding hostage Omer Shem Tov during his time in Hamas captivity.
Military Claims Terror Activities Continued During Gaza Fighting
The IDF stated that Abu Hasna remained active in Hamas operations after the October 7 attack. Israeli officials accused him of planting explosive devices and attempting to organize attacks targeting Israeli soldiers operating in Gaza.
Military officials described his elimination as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt Hamas’ operational capabilities and reduce threats to troops deployed in the enclave.
Separate Strike Targets Armed Hamas Members
In a separate incident in northern Gaza, the Israeli military reported carrying out another strike against individuals it identified as Hamas militants.
According to the IDF, three armed members of Hamas’ military wing were killed while allegedly preparing attacks against Israeli forces in the area. The military said the operation was conducted based on intelligence and surveillance information gathered before the strike.
Ongoing Operations Across Gaza
The latest announcements come as Israeli forces continue military operations throughout Gaza, where clashes and airstrikes have remained frequent amid the ongoing conflict.
Israeli authorities maintain that their operations are focused on dismantling Hamas infrastructure and preventing future attacks, while fighting continues across multiple parts of the territory.
