Falconets Soar into Second Round
The Nigerian Under-20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, are currently in the second round of the Under-20 Women’s World Cup qualification series, gearing up for a crucial clash against Tanzania in the first leg.
Two-Leg Battle Beckons
Following the first leg in Dar es Salaam, both teams will reconvene in Abuja for the second leg, battling fiercely for a coveted spot in the 2024 World Cup to be held in Colombia.
Gusau’s Encouragement
Ibrahim Gusau, in a visit to the team, emphasized the significance of the upcoming matches. Urging the players to give their all, he reminded them that while Tanzania is the first challenge, their ultimate destination is Colombia.
Gusau highlighted Nigeria’s impressive track record in qualifying for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup and encouraged the players not to be associated with failure.
Historic 24-Team Tournament
The 2024 Under-20 Women’s World Cup holds a special place in history as it is set to feature 24 countries for the first time in the tournament’s more than 20-year history.
The competition is scheduled to kick off on September 22, 2024, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the qualification rounds.
