Highland Europe has strengthened its position as one of Europe’s leading growth-stage technology investors after completing the fundraising for its sixth investment vehicle, securing commitments totaling €1.1 billion.
The latest fund is designed to accelerate the expansion of high-growth technology businesses across the continent, reinforcing the firm’s long-term commitment to supporting innovative companies as they scale internationally.
New Capital Targets Europe’s Emerging Technology Champions
The newly closed Fund VI will continue Highland Europe’s established investment strategy of backing ambitious technology companies that have already demonstrated strong market traction and are poised for rapid expansion.
The firm intends to focus on businesses operating across both consumer and enterprise technology sectors, helping founders transform promising ventures into globally competitive market leaders.
Its existing portfolio reflects that strategy, with investments spanning a diverse range of industries.
These include smartphone manufacturer Nothing, financial intelligence platform 9fin, healthcare AI company Nabla, and workflow automation platform n8n.
Recent Investments Highlight Strong Focus on Artificial Intelligence
Highland Europe has remained particularly active in the artificial intelligence sector, leading several major funding rounds over the past year.
Among its latest investments are a $70 million Series B financing for legal technology company Wordsmith, a $50 million Series B round for enterprise AI platform Unframe, and a $105 million Series D investment in precision agriculture innovator Ecorobotix.
These transactions demonstrate the firm’s continued emphasis on supporting businesses applying advanced technologies to transform industries ranging from legal services and enterprise software to agriculture and healthcare.
Track Record Includes Major Exits and Billion-Dollar Transactions
The firm’s portfolio has produced several high-profile outcomes in recent years.
Among its notable successes is the $3 billion acquisition of digital employee experience platform Nexthink by a private equity buyer.
Highland Europe also benefited from the agreed sale of nutrition brand Huel to Danone, while fitness technology company EGYM entered a merger with Playlist valued at approximately $7.5 billion.
Another significant milestone came through the public listing of Bending Spoons on the NASDAQ under the ticker BSP, where the company has achieved a market capitalization exceeding $18 billion.
More Than a Decade of Investment Growth
Since launching in 2012, Highland Europe has steadily expanded both its investment capacity and portfolio. Across six investment funds, the firm has now raised approximately €3.75 billion.
Over that period, it has invested in more than 80 technology companies while successfully guiding around 30 portfolio exits, underscoring its experience in supporting businesses through multiple stages of growth and liquidity events.
Leadership Team Strengthened With Two Partner Promotions
Alongside the announcement of Fund VI, Highland Europe confirmed the promotion of Helena Richardson and Jacob Bernstein to Partner, recognizing their contributions to the firm’s investment activities.
Richardson, who joined Highland Europe in 2016, has played a key role in backing companies including Ffern, ME+EM, Modulr, and Huel.
Bernstein became part of the firm in 2017 and has focused primarily on enterprise technology investments, supporting companies such as Unframe, Zero Networks, Oritain, and Descartes Underwriting.
Outlook
With €1.1 billion in fresh capital and an expanded leadership team, Highland Europe is positioned to deepen its investment activity across Europe’s technology ecosystem.
The firm is expected to continue targeting high-growth businesses in artificial intelligence, enterprise software, fintech, healthcare, and consumer technology as it seeks to build the next generation of European technology leaders.
