…By Larry John for TDPel Media. As the current heatwave continues to scorch the United Kingdom, forecasters have provided insights into how long the hot and dry weather is expected to persist.
According to the Met Office, Thursday is anticipated to be the hottest day of 2023 thus far, with temperatures reaching their peak in various parts of the country.
The BBC forecasts that the weather will remain consistent for the next 11 days, with temperatures exceeding 20 degrees Celsius.
Over the following 10 days, continued sunshine is expected, with temperatures fluctuating between the high teens and low 20s Celsius until the end of the month.
Looking ahead to June, WXCharts predicts that the mercury will rise to 26 degrees Celsius.
The hottest temperatures are anticipated to arrive on June 7, particularly in the Southeast of England.
The Met Office attributes the settled and warm conditions of the upcoming days to a high-pressure system located west of the UK.
Providing a forecast for the upcoming week, which includes a bank holiday and half term across much of the country, the Met Office states, “Sunday is expected to remain predominantly settled, although it may be somewhat cloudier compared to recent days, with a few showers, especially in northern and eastern regions.”
Continuing into the next week, dry weather with warm sunny spells is expected for most parts of the UK.
However, there is a slight chance of cooler conditions extending from the north, or alternatively, warmer conditions accompanied by showers advancing into southern areas.
Winds will generally be light, although occasional periods of stronger winds are possible in the far north and south.
Moving further into June, high pressure is still expected to dominate, resulting in mostly settled conditions.
However, there is a possibility of cloudier skies and occasional light rain in Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Temperatures are expected to remain above average, with cooler conditions anticipated in coastal regions.
Breezy conditions may occur intermittently in the far southeast and far northwest.
With the heatwave set to continue in the coming days and warm weather predicted well into June, the public is advised to take necessary precautions to stay hydrated and protect themselves from the sun’s intensity during outdoor activities.
