Harry Kane has agreed to a new contract with Bayern Munich that will keep him at the German club until 2029, reportedly earning £400,000 per week and becoming Europe’s highest-paid footballer.

The England captain, 33, has signed an extension despite entering the final six months of his previous agreement.

His improved terms reflect his performances since arriving in Germany and his recent recognition as the world’s best player, having won the Ballon d’Or last week in London.

The agreement also ends speculation about a possible return to the Premier League, where Kane had been expected to pursue Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record.

Kane’s Record-Breaking Numbers Since Leaving Tottenham

Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £86million and has established himself as one of the club’s most productive players.

He has scored 156 goals in 161 appearances for the Bundesliga champions, maintaining a scoring rate of almost one goal per match.

His performances last season were particularly impressive, with 73 goals in 65 appearances for club and country.

That record helped him finish ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal in the Ballon d’Or race.

Bayern Success Ends Kane’s Wait for Major Trophies

Before moving to Germany, Kane had never won a major team trophy despite his prolific goalscoring record at Tottenham.

However, his two seasons at Bayern have brought considerable success, including two Bundesliga titles, the DFB Cup and two German Super Cups.

He has also collected several individual awards during his time in Munich.

Kane has finished as the Bundesliga’s leading goalscorer in both seasons and won the Golden Shoe twice, recognising him as Europe’s leading striker.

He was also named Germany’s best player last season.

Kane Explains Decision to Extend His Stay in Munich

Speaking after signing the new agreement, Kane said his family had settled comfortably in Germany and that he was eager to continue playing for Bayern.

“I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich,” he said.

He also praised the quality of the squad and manager Vincent Kompany, describing his involvement with the club as a source of pride.

“My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay.

I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club,” Kane added.

England Captain Closes in on Appearance Record

Kane’s new Bayern contract comes after another successful international campaign with England.

He helped the Three Lions secure their best World Cup finish since winning the tournament in 1966, claiming the bronze medal after scoring six goals in seven appearances under manager Thomas Tuchel.

The striker is also approaching another milestone with the national team.

He is expected to become England’s record appearance holder later this month when they face Croatia and Spain in the Nations League.

Kane needs just one appearance in either match to surpass Peter Shilton’s record of 125 caps.

He already holds England’s all-time goalscoring record with 91 international goals, 38 more than former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who occupies second place.
