Harrison Ford condemns Donald Trump’s climate policies in powerful interview with The Guardian as actor warns ignorance and greed are destroying the planet in the United States

Harrison Ford isn’t one to hold back when it comes to issues he’s passionate about — especially the environment.

But his latest comments about former President Donald Trump’s climate policies have reignited old debates about hypocrisy and Hollywood activism.

Speaking in a candid interview with The Guardian, the Indiana Jones star unleashed a wave of frustration over Trump’s approach to environmental issues, saying his actions “scare the s**t” out of him.

Despite Ford himself owning a carbon-emitting private jet, the 83-year-old actor didn’t hesitate to label Trump as one of history’s biggest wrongdoers when it comes to the planet.

Ford Calls Trump’s Climate Actions ‘Criminal’

Ford — who has long advocated for environmental conservation — didn’t mince his words when criticizing Trump’s handling of the climate crisis.

“He doesn’t have policies, he has whims,” Ford told The Guardian. “The ignorance, the hubris, the lies, the perfidy.

e knows better, but he’s an instrument of the status quo and he’s making money hand over fist while the world goes to hell in a handbasket.”

The actor went as far as saying, “I don’t know of a greater criminal in history,” referring to Trump’s rollback of environmental protections and rejection of scientific consensus.

Trump’s Climate Stance Under Fire Again

Since returning to office for his second term less than a year ago, Trump has doubled down on his controversial environmental stance.

He’s reportedly cut funding for clean energy projects, promoted fossil fuels, and dismissed over 1,000 Environmental Protection Agency staff members — many of them scientists focused on climate policy.

Trump has also encouraged increased oil drilling in the UK and criticized the use of wind turbines, calling them “ugly.”

Ford quipped that Trump probably dislikes them simply because “he hasn’t seen a gold one yet.”

A Dire Warning and a Glimmer of Hope

Still, Ford hasn’t given up hope entirely. While acknowledging the damage caused by climate denial, he expressed confidence that the world can adapt and recover.

“We are incredibly adaptive, we are incredibly inventive,” he said. “If we concentrate on a problem, we can fix it most times.”

He believes Trump’s fossil-fuel-driven vision is already losing traction, pointing to the growing — albeit slow — shift toward renewable energy sources.

“He’s losing ground because everything he says is a lie,” Ford added.

Trump’s Continued Push Against Environmental Policy

Ford’s comments come amid Trump’s renewed campaign to dismantle environmental protections.

On his first day back in office, Trump announced plans to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement again, reversing progress made under President Biden.

Just months ago, during a speech at the United Nations, Trump called climate change “the greatest con job in the world,” accusing other nations of wasting resources in pursuit of net-zero emissions goals.

Ford Honored for His Environmental Advocacy

Ironically, Ford made these fiery comments ahead of receiving the E.O. Wilson Legacy Award for Transformative Conservation Leadership in Chicago.

The honor recognized his decades-long commitment to wildlife protection and conservation efforts.

However, his personal carbon footprint hasn’t escaped scrutiny.

According to Fox News, Ford’s private Cessna Citation Sovereign made at least eight flights totaling over 5,000 miles in just two months in 2022 — emitting roughly 35 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

That’s more than the average American produces in two years.

Hollywood Activism Meets Real-World Contradictions

The contradiction between Ford’s environmental advocacy and his private jet use hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Critics argue it undermines his message, while supporters insist his influence still brings vital attention to the climate crisis.

Ford has faced such criticism before. In past interviews, he’s blasted Trump as a “son of a b****” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and lamented what he called a dangerous disregard for science in government.

“The greatest threat isn’t just climate change,” he once said. “It’s people in charge of important s*** who don’t believe in science.”

A Long-Running Feud with Trump

Ford has made no secret of his disdain for Trump over the years.

Last year, he joined a number of Hollywood figures in publicly endorsing Kamala Harris for president.

His remarks to The Guardian continue that pattern — passionate, outspoken, and unapologetically political.

What’s Next for Ford

Even at 83, Ford remains an active voice in the environmental conversation — and a lightning rod for controversy.

Whether his strong words will move the needle on climate policy or simply stir more debate remains to be seen.

But one thing is clear: Harrison Ford isn’t done speaking his mind, even if his jet-fueled lifestyle makes him a complicated messenger.
