Gaston Sirino, once a standout playmaker for Mamelodi Sundowns, has been seen at Kaizer Chiefs’ headquarters in Naturena.
The purpose of his visit? To put the finishing touches on a two-year deal with the renowned Soweto club.
The 33-year-old Uruguayan recently acquired South African citizenship, making his transition to the Chiefs even smoother. He’s set to take on the iconic number 10 jersey, previously worn by Keagan Dolly.
Sirino arrives at Chiefs as a free agent, having left Sundowns after a highly successful six-year spell.
During his time there, he amassed an impressive collection of titles: six league championships, the Telkom Knockout, MTN8, Nedbank Cup, and the African Football League.
On Thursday, Sirino reportedly reached personal terms with the Amakhosi.
By Friday, he was at the Kaizer Chiefs Village, finalizing his deal and undergoing a routine medical examination under the watchful eye of head coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Thanks to his South African citizenship, Sirino is eligible to play as a local player.
Although he was initially offered to both Chiefs and Pirates after his departure from Sundowns, he ultimately chose to join Amakhosi, much to the delight of their fans.
Sirino’s addition to the Chiefs’ lineup is expected to significantly enhance their attacking options.
His creative playmaking skills and extensive experience in the Betway Premiership are anticipated to be invaluable assets for the team in the upcoming season.
