Ukraine has reported a new wave of Russian missile and drone attacks that struck several regions overnight, leaving civilians dead and injured while damaging homes, public facilities and energy infrastructure.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attacks targeted Kyiv and multiple other parts of the country, renewing his appeal for faster deliveries of air defense equipment from Ukraine’s international partners.
Fatal Strike Reported in Kyiv
According to Zelenskyy, two people were killed in the Ukrainian capital following a Russian missile strike during the night.
He said five others were injured, including a child. The attack reportedly damaged a residential high-rise building, warehouse facilities and several vehicles.
The president extended his condolences to the families of those killed.
Several Regions Sustain Civilian Damage
Beyond Kyiv, Zelenskyy said Russian attacks affected a number of other regions across Ukraine.
In the Kharkiv region, four people were reported injured after strikes involving drones and a guided aerial bomb. Ukrainian authorities said civilian locations, including residential homes, a movie theater and tennis courts, sustained damage.
The president also said a public park in Sumy was struck, while a tractor brigade elsewhere in the region came under attack. In Zaporizhzhia, apartment buildings were reported damaged during the latest bombardment.
Energy Infrastructure Among Targets
Zelenskyy said the overnight attacks also affected Ukraine’s energy network.
According to the president, damage was reported at power grid facilities in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv and Donetsk regions, adding to the broader impact of the strikes on civilian infrastructure.
Ukraine Reports Large-Scale Aerial Assault
The Ukrainian president said Russia launched a total of 13 missiles and 151 drones during the latest attack.
Of the missiles fired, eight were identified as ballistic missiles, according to Zelenskyy. He added that the strike represented the sixth ballistic missile attack on Kyiv since the beginning of July.
Russia has not publicly commented on the specific claims. Moscow has consistently stated that its military operations target military and strategic infrastructure, while Ukraine has accused Russian forces of repeatedly striking civilian areas.
Zelenskyy Urges Faster Air Defense Deliveries
Following the attacks, Zelenskyy renewed calls for Ukraine’s allies to accelerate shipments of air defense interceptors and other military assistance.
He argued that faster delivery of agreed defense packages would strengthen Ukraine’s ability to intercept incoming missiles and drones, helping to protect civilians and reduce the effectiveness of future Russian attacks.
The appeal comes as Ukraine continues to seek expanded international support to bolster its air defense capabilities amid ongoing missile and drone campaigns.
