After an impressive stint in South Africa, Khama Billiat has made quite the splash in his home country.
The 33-year-old former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs forward has just snagged his first-ever award in Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Billiat, who recently joined Yadah FC, has been on fire this season. With nine goals in 21 matches, his performance has been nothing short of spectacular.
His return to Zimbabwe earlier this year, following over a decade of playing in South Africa, marks a new chapter in his career. His stint with Kaizer Chiefs ended under less-than-ideal circumstances, and attempts to find a new team in South Africa didn’t pan out.
This led him to Yadah FC, where he’s become a standout player.
Spotlight on Billiat’s Success
In July, Billiat was awarded Player of the Month, a well-deserved recognition for his excellent form. During that month, he netted three goals and provided one assist.
Not only is he making waves as the joint leading goal-scorer with Caps United’s William Manondo, but he’s also a strong contender for a spot among the season’s best eleven players with 13 games still to play.
Past Achievements and Future Hopes
Billiat’s previous accolades include three league title medals with Mamelodi Sundowns and a CAF Champions League win in 2016, among other honors.
Individually, he’s been named PSL Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season, and was a runner-up for the CAF African Player of the Year based in Africa award.
As he continues to shine in Zimbabwe, Billiat is eager to add more awards to his collection, hoping to match the success he enjoyed during his time with Mamelodi Sundowns.
