Former Defense Minister Bashir Salihi Magashi Debunks Death Rumors, Clarifies Name Confusion

In a statement released on Friday, the spokesman clarified that the rumors were a result of confusion in names and assured the public that Magashi is alive and well.

Spokesman Dispels Death Rumors:

Mohammad Abdulkadir, the spokesperson for the ex-Minister, addressed the issue in a statement, explaining that the misinformation regarding Magashi’s death stemmed from the confusion caused by similar names.

He emphasized that the rumors were unfounded and that Magashi is in good health.


Unfortunate Coincidence:

Abdulkadir further elaborated that the confusion may have arisen due to the recent passing of Dr Labaran Kabir Magashi in Kano.

While both individuals share a last name, they are not related. The spokesman noted that the online story likely mistook the former Minister for the late Magashi, who has no connection to him.

Confirmation of Well-Being:

Abdulkadir reassured the public by stating that he had spoken directly to General Magashi, who confirmed his well-being.

The ex-Minister expressed gratitude to those who reached out to confirm the authenticity of the news and thanked Nigerians for their concern, solidarity, and display of love.

Condolences to the Family:

While dispelling the rumors, Magashi also extended his condolences to the family of the late Dr Labaran Kabir Magashi, acknowledging their loss.


He offered prayers and sought forgiveness for the deceased, hoping that Allah would grant him a place in Jannat Firidaus (Paradise).
